I've been looking for a program that would convert my media files quickly without sacraficing quality and I've finally found it. I've tried many programs but most took hours to convert from .avi to .mpg or could only convert from one format to one other format (like VOB2MPG -a good program but limited functionality) I tried videoredo and liked it but it costs $40.US and I decided to look around a bit more before plunking down the cash. I'm glad I did because this FREE program has mor functionality than I could ask for and I've already converyed 50 full length movies from formats like .vob, .avi and .wmv to .mpg for use over my media extender and they play great streamed across my network on my xbox360! Better yet after choosing what format I perferred for output I was able to adjust things like the refresh rate and resolution (there are standards you can choose or you can make custom adjustments). Also, there were a few files I had that other programs would error out and quit on after about 30% and Format Factory muscled through whatever the other programs couldn't and fully converted my videos without and noticable errors!! All for Free!! I rarely provide reviews because I am rarely satisfied but this program is truely the best I have used to date! My system: Vista Ultimate, AMD Phenom X4 9550 CPU, XFX750i motherboard, 4GB of crucial DDR2 800mhz RAM, 3X seagate 1.5TB HDDs, 1X WD 500GB HDD, Sony 20X DVD-R drive, Thermaltake 750W Power and I'm using the integrated Nvidia video until I can afford a new PCIE card... I can oly imagine this programs performance will improve once I get a video card and stop sharing resources. Give it a try, you won't be dissapointed!
